How To Stay Focused On Jesus in The Face of Adversity
Share
Unexpected seasons and stormy days tend to steal attention and time. They take our gaze away from Jesus and to the problems. This causes anxiety, hopelessness, doubt, and fear. We begin to wonder if God is with us in those moments and if He sees what we are experiencing. The truth is God is always with us and sees everything including hardship. He also gave us victory over everything because Jesus conquered all evil on the cross. Therefore, if any battle takes all our attention and hope, we permit it to. When any hardship comes, we should immediately fix our eyes on Jesus and focus on Him and His word.
Scripture: My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Psalm 57:7
Scripture: Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Colossians 3:2-3
So how do we stay focused on Jesus?
-We praise and bless God because praise commands any negative emotions and reactions to cease. It also reminds us that we have the victory and not our situation.
Scripture: I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalm 34:1
Scripture: But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57
-Pray to God, give Him the circumstances, and declare He will turn it around for our good.
-We find scriptures that combat the circumstance and repeat those scriptures throughout the day. This will build our faith and keep us encouraged.
-Turn on worship music to fill our atmosphere with praise to Jesus and invite the Holy Spirit to dwell among us.
-Wait expectantly for God to answer our prayers and put our faith in Jesus alone. Also, believe that what we have prayed for is already done.
Staying focused on Jesus is crucial and beneficial for us as believers. We cannot afford to learn how to focus on God when adversity arises. It is best to prepare for any hardship or warfare before it comes therefore, we’ll be well-equipped.
